Should We Scrub?
A question I’ve always had on my mind is, how often should we scrub? Is it good for our skin? Well, the first time I tried a scrub I didn’t have the best experience and after that I became skeptical about it. At that time I used “Clean & Clear” and the day after I started breaking out (keep in mind every skin is different and maybe that product can work for you). Then I started doing some research and found out there are different type of scrubs depending on skin concerns, but the most impressive part was that if you scrub very often it can actually open your pores and cause breakouts (I just had a crisis at that moment). But, I just found the perfect one at the St. Ives Mixing Bar.
Benefits depending your skin type:
- Oily Skin: Dermatologists agree that scrub is the right choice for oily skin, especially because it helps break up impurities and wash them away. The key for oily skin is balancing, too much scrubbing will deprive your skin from natural good oils.
- Dry Skin: Dry skin type gets the best benefits from exfoliating, as it removes dead cells and therefore flaky skin. This skin type can exfoliate 2-3 times weekly.
- Normal/Combination Skin: This skin type would benefit from a light and gentle exfoliator, there is no need to be to abrasive. Normal skin should be exfoliated 1-2 weekly.
